Chromatic Button Accordion
The chromatic button accordion lays out its notes in rows that repeat at the octave in a fixed pattern, unchanged across all keys. Transposition is simple, and the full chromatic scale is always within reach. It became central to Russian and Eastern European folk music, and serious players also use it in classical accordion repertoire. The B and C systems are the two most common fingering layouts, mirror images of each other. Players who need a single consistent approach across all keys tend to choose the chromatic over the diatonic.
